Storage Mart
“No worries about your belongings being secure. We have 24 hour video surveillance, alarmed doors, and a property manager on site, with high security disk locks and cylinder locks available”.

So says the StorageMart website but some users of the company’s Lee’s Summit, MO facility may think differently after 40+ units were broken into on Thursday night. The thieves cut the locks and left them on the ground where they fell. The images show a hardened steel Master lock and a disc lock both cut with bolt cutters.

It wasn’t just the padlocks that were cut as can be seen in the picture of a severed sliding bolt.

We have talked about avoiding cheap padlocks before and recommended going instead for a boron alloy shrouded shackle lock.

The StorageMart thieves not only broke into the units but also into the site’s office. Police are currently reviewing the surveillance videos but even if they manage to identify the people involved the chances of recovering much of the stolen property is slim.
