Following the recent fire at the Extra Space Storage facility in Venice, CA The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) have published the result of their investigation as to origin of the fire.
The LAFD Arson/Counter-Terrorism Section, The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) National Response Team (NRT) and ATF Special Agents from the Los Angeles Field Division are all in agreement that the cause of the fire is “undetermined”.
More than 50 agents, investigators, and experts were involved in evidence collection and examination, following leads and conducting interviews. As part of scene excavation, investigators and agents sifted through thousands of pounds of fire debris searching for clues.
The LAFD say that more than 400 of their personnel responded to the fire. It took firefighters more than 14 hours to fully extinguish the blaze and eight LAFD members suffered minor injuries during the firefight.
